Fair Use Resources

Philosophy Statement: As a teacher with a commitment to following the Fair Use principles I plan to make sure I only use copyrighted material that is necessary to reach my educational goals in the classroom. Any copyrighted material that may be utilized in my classroom or included in my lesson plans will be correctly attributed to its creator. In addition, I plan to incorporate proper modeled citation practices for my students and make sure they learn the proper techniques to incorporate, modify and re-present existing media.Once any student work is completed, I plan to make sure the proper decision about its distribution is done. It is important for students to understand how to utilize existing information in their creative works and how to give credit properly. As the teacher I will stress the importance of doing this as a real-world application. I will model realistic examples for my students so they can see how it applies to in-class projects as well as real-world situations. To effectively maintain this goal I pledge to keep up with copyright principles, laws, and regulations through public resources such as those listed below.
